Art in August | Mapping Facial Proportions and Capturing Likeness

There is no such thing as the perfectly proportioned face or head. All of the ways our facial proportions deviate from each other is what gives us a particular likeness. And there is more than one way to capture any one person's likeness. In this class, we will find the basic facial proportions of the class subject in the reference image provided using Artist's Loft Gel Pens and then work to sketch and render this portrait study in graphite with a focus on value shapes to capture a bit of likeness.
